We have lots of jobs on this day, from greeting people to distributing food, to making merry and handing out treats. Your open & welcoming, non-judgemental attitude will be most appreciated on this day. We encourage festive dress (though not required).

Holiday Grocery Orientation:

You are welcome to attend our Orientation on Thursday December 8th, from 5:30-6:30pm at our 803 East Hastings building. If you haven’t volunteered for the Holiday Grocery before, it is strongly recommended that you attend. If you are absolutely unable to attend the orientation, please talk to us and we’ll work something out.

If you have volunteered for the Holiday Grocery before, you do not need to attend but are welcome to. This is a great opportunity get a solid understanding of how the flow of the day works. Come and have some food and meet some of the other volunteers that you will be working with.

1) 2016 Holiday Grocery Event Pre-Set up

This pre-set up will be on Friday December 9th, from 9:00am-1:00pm. Volunteers will help with receiving deliveries and setting up the event: so should be ok with lifting up to 50lbs and moving stock around (with the help of carts and dollies of course!). Come with a positive attitude and leave with the good feeling of a job well done, in contributing to our most wonderful day of the year!

2) 2016 Holiday Grocery Event Pre-Pre set up

This Pre-Pre set up will be on Monday December 12th, from 9:00am-1:00pm. Volunteers will help with receiving deliveries and setting up the event: so should be ok with lifting up to 50lbs and moving stock around (with the help of carts and dollies of course!). A flair for decorating is an added bonus. Come with a positive attitude and leave with the good feeling of a job well done, in contributing to our most wonderful day of the year!

3) 2016 Holiday Grocery Event Day

Please consider joining us for the most wonderful day of the year – The 2016 Holiday Grocery event. Where we plan to provide enough food for up to 800 people and their children, in just one day! There are lots of jobs that need filling to name a few: greeters, passing out treats in the line up, directing flow of traffic, Coffee elves, distributing food & photo taking. The one day where everyone at AV gets involved to make merry and help our clients have a happier holiday. We would love to have you come and make merry with us!

PM shift: from 12:30pm - 5:00pm
